Hello! Поговорим об именах существительных. А , в частности, об именах собственных и нарицательных. Их названиях в английском. Также советую посмотреть видео от одного британского учителя – и слух разовьёте и ума наберётесь (он просто очень умный).
Роберт – имя собственное. Оно его и оно его собственное.
Мальчик – имя нарицательное, для всех, всего.
Английское слово boy – это существительное, а именно – нарицательное существительное. То есть, это Common Noun.
А существительное Роберт – это уже собственное имя существительное, как и имя мальчика. Это Proper Noun.
Итак:
Proper Noun (собственное) – Robert.
Common Noun (нарицательное) – boy.
Перевод терминов:
Noun [naun] – (имя) существительное;
Proper [`prɔpə] – специфический, собственный, точный.
Common [`kɔmən] – общий, общественный, распространённый, простой, неспециальный.
А теперь – обещанный британец (далее всё на английском).

So, what are Proper Nouns and what are common nouns? So
Proper Nouns
are the names of things. So, Alex – Proper Noun. YouTube – proper Noun, American Airlines – Proper Noun. Volvo – a Proper Noun. These are names of companies, of people, of things. Whereas,

Common Nouns
these are general names of the things. So, for example, a Common Noun – a man, a woman. The Proper Noun – Alex, Ms. Simmons, Susanna. OK? Those are Proper Nouns. But Common Noun – woman or man.
Again.
Common Noun – companies. A company – that is a common noun, general.
But, a specific one – IBM. Now that`s a Proper Noun.
Notice as well, Proper Nouns have capital letters whereas Common Nouns don`t.
So, country. There are many countries in the world – common noun.
England, France, Germany, Russia, Poland, OK, those are Proper Nouns. Or even The United States of America. Four words altogether – but a Proper Noun.
